The Gyrocopter Experience
Kati takes delivery of the first Calidus in the UK PDF Print E-mail

Kati and her GRYNThe first fully enclosed Calidus to be?collected by?its owner was G-GRYN. And the owner was our very own Kati Hedger, the Event Coordinator at The Gyrocopter Experience, York.

It was a very cold and frost morning on Friday 21st January 2011 when Kati drove up the steep hill to the Long Mynd airfield to meet the gyro of her dreams with the specially chosen registration number G-GRYN.?

In Kati's own words she had been "blown away" by the Calidus when it was first displayed at The Flying Show in November 2008, she had been going to order an open cockpit gyro but when she sat in the Calidus she knew that this was the gyro for her and she became the first person to order one at the show.

And now, just over 2 years later, she put her arms around it on the day that it became hers.? Gerry Spiech, owner of Rotorsport UK had driven the gyro up to the airfield the previous night knowing that there was going to be severe ice on the road and there would have been no way that he would have been able to drive it up the icy road on the day of collection.? The finishing touch was a neat little bow on the front of the cockpit.

It is "absolutely wonderful" said Kati as she hugged it. Then, just a few hours later she flew with with Phil Harwood back to her home airfield at York. It flew better than anyone could have expected, it was definately worth the wait.

"This is what dreams are made of" said Kati, giddy with excitement, I really do have that Gyrocopter GRYN!
