The Best Flying Show Ever

The Magni M24 Orion VIP and the Rotorsport Cavalon went head-to-head at The Flying Show 2012, and they both looked spectacular.

Although it was reported that visitor numbers were slighly down on last year, the enthusiasm of the crowds at The Gyrocopter Village was phenomenal. The end result of which has been sales of new aircraft and a surge in the demand for Gyrocopter training.

The Gyrocopter Experience are really excited about these machines. Phil Harwood at York currently has an M24 as a school aircraft and Nick Wright at Devon is awaiting delivery of the first Cavalon aircraft to be used in a flying school. Contact these guys for more information on either machine.

6 Pilots Start Instructor Training

In order to meet the demand for Gyrocopter Training in the UK, six experienced Gyrocopter pilots have just completed the first week of their instructor training at The Gyrocopter Experience - York. This week covered the fundamentals of Gyrocopter Instruction and included how to teach some of the ground school subjects along with many of the `upper airwork` exercises from the PPL(G) Syllabus.

The whole course is expected to take about 6 weeks spread over a few months.

The theoretical component of the Instructor course is held over the winter months for a group of pilots. The flying elements are expected to be held in the Spring with all the UK FIC Instructors, training the pilots one to one in intensive individual instructor flying courses.

This course will be held annually, there are already places reserved for the winter 2013/2014 course. If you would like to reserve a place on next years course, please email info@GyrocopterExperience.com for details.

Book Now for 2013 Training

December, January and February can be the best months for flying. The cool air and high pressure can result in some of the best flying days of the year. Even in an open cockpit machine, dont worry about the cold - many of the machines allow you to plug in electrically heated gloves and clothing (supplied).

Only Salisbury and Devon are open for business for the whole of January, the instructors at the other locations are all on their annual holiday and operating part time. Both full time locations are offering special offers for training in January and Feburary - call Steve (Salisbury) on 07905 059789 and Nick (Devon) on 07734 055791 for details of these offers.

Ground School Training this Winter

Do you enjoy the flying but hate the exams? Fear not - the ground topics (Human Factors, Air Law, Meteorology, Gyroplane Technical and Navigation) are all fun when delivered in an entertaining and easy to remember way.

Monday 14th January to Wedneday 16th covers the topics of Human Performance, Air Law and Gyroplane Technical. Monday 18th February to Wednesday 20th covers the topics of Meteorology and Navigation. Each course costs ?450. The ground exams can be taken on the Thursday of each week at ?30 per exam.
