Hi

Welcome to the August 2012 Gyrocopter Experience Newsletter with gyroplane news, updates and information from around the UK and around the world.

Coming in 2013. Fly in the new Rotorsport Cavalon at The Gyrocopter Experience: Devon!

Have you seen the new Rotorsport Cavalon? Its sleek styling and enclosed side-by-side seating is going to bring the joys of gyro flying to a whole new group of budding pilots.

Fancy learning to fly in a Cavalon? Well, you'll soon be able to.

In spring 2013 the Gyrocopter Experience Devon is due to take delivery of the first customer delivered Cavalon in the UK!

Nick Wright, instructor at the Gyrocopter Experience Devon, says 'This is a very exciting development for us. We're expecting a lot of interest. We have already had one person sign up for a full PPL(G) course, even before we announced it publicly'.

So, if you would like to fly the Cavalon, contact The Gyrocopter Experience Devon.

CAA announce changes to Gyroplane Permit To Fly renewals

The CAA has announced that it is considering changes to the way in which the ?Permits to Fly? (PTF) for factory-built gyroplanes are renewed. In a nutshell, the plan is to allow competent bodies other than the CAA to conduct the annual survey process for the renewal of a PTF, removing the requirement for a CAA surveyor to visit the aircraft each year.

What this will mean is that organisations such as the aircraft manufacturers and the sporting associations (the LAA and the BMAA) will be able to apply to undertake the task. For owners this should mean a quicker and more convenient process for renewing their annual permit.

It's early days yet but the CAA is keen to implement this change rapidly, so we may see the new process in place before the end of the year.

Big Boys Toys at Perth

Three Wheels and a Rotor Good, Four Wheels ..... well, frankly, a bit dull by comparison .....

What happens when you bring a fleet of supercars to a Gyrocopter Experience location?

Instructor Kevin Whitehead found out when there was an invasion of ?prancing horses? (apparently that?s a reference to the cars, not the owners) at Perth airport. No need to ask which bits of hardware stole the show .... !!

Hall of Fame

Congratulations to Paul Remfry, who gained his PPL(G) in a Magni M16 at Salisbury this month. Paul used to be an RAF Flight Engineer on Hercules (C130). Please don?t repeat the joke ?so you used to fly in the C130? I?ve flown the C150, C152 and the C172 ......? as it is so old now it?s unrepeatable.

Contratulations also to Barry Warburton who is now able to take to the skies in his shiny new Calidus G-CGVK. He passed his GFT with David Beevers at The Gyrocopter Experience in York last week.

Well done Paul and Barry.
