Hi

Welcome to the September 2012 Gyrocopter Experience Newsletter with gyroplane news, updates and information from around the UK and around the world.

The Gyrocopter Experience links with Dutch Flying School

The first Autogyro training school being set up in the Netherlands has teamed up with The Gyrocopter Experience. Until recently, it has not been possible to register an autogyro in the Netherlands - like many parts of the world, the demand for autogyros/gyroplanes/gyrocopters has required significant effort by the CAA in that country to introduce licencing and training standards.

Linking with the Gyrocopter Experience in the UK provides Chief Flying Instructor, Remco van Ravenzwaaij with structured training material and a mentoring program which has given a quick-start boost to setting up a training program in the Netherlands.

Welcome aboard Remco, happy flying.

The Gyrocopter Experience is actively involved in helping other countries to establish their training regime, working with instructors in these countries or directly with the local aviation authority.

National UK Gyro Competition - 6th Oct 2012

The Second UK National Gyroplane Competition and Fly-in will be held at Chiltern Park Aerodrome, Oxfordshire on the 6th October 2012.The competition will attract some of the best Gyro pilots in the UK who will participate in 4 separate flying events.

Current UK champion - Phil Robinson in his MT03 G-CERF (which he calls `blue-bottle`) will be defending his title.

If you own a Gyro then come along and fly (please pre-register). If you don't own a Gyro then come along and watch - it's a great social event.

For more information please contact Kai Barnett, the event organiser.

First Gyroplane Flight Test Course Completed

The first ever Flight Test Course for Gyroplanes was held last week at the LAA Headquarters at Turweston Aerodrome. The course was led by CAA Test Pilot Chris Taylor. Chris said `The increase in the number of Gyroplanes entering the UK has resulted in an increase in the demand for flight testing new aircraft, new modifications and new designs. It is important that we train a new generation of test pilots to cope with this demand.`

Phil Harwood, from The Gyrocopter Experience - York who was a student on the course said `This was a great way to learn how to assess an aircraft. Gyroplanes are inherantly stable but there is huge amount of testing done by the CAA that goes into the approval of a Gyroplane to prove its flying characteristics. A great course, thanks.`

A new record for Gyrocopter Grin photos in a month...and counting

This month (September 2012), we have broken our own record for the number of `Gyrocopter Grin photos` uploaded to our Gallery. At the time of sending out this newsletter, 44 different people have taken initial flights in a Gyrocopter this month - most of them Gifts. You can see their smiling faces here!

We find it a great priviledge to be able to offer such an exhilarating present! If you know someone who might like to fly, gift packs are available here.

This months new pilots

Congratulations to Harry Simons and Brian Lesslie who passed their General Flying Test earlier his month. Harry and Brian were both trained by Steve Boxall in Salisbury.

This puts The Gyrocopter Experience Salisbury at the head of our leader board for the greatest number of pilots gaining their licence this year at a single Gyrocopter school.
