Hi

Welcome to the May 2012 Gyrocopter Experience Newsletter with gyroplane news, updates and information from around the UK and around the world.

What happened at Popham 2012

?Sunny?, ?warm? and ?balmy? are not words you would normally associate with the Popham Microlight fair, and 2012 was no exception!

After a refreshing flight over through rain and sleet our Gyrocopter Experience representatives Kevin Robinson (Portugal & Oxford) and Steve Boxall (Salisbury) were kept busy on the stand all weekend, talking about gyros and trying to stay warm!

The event was well attended, with over a dozen gyros on site each day. The big news was the Cavalon ? Rotorsport had a German-registered example at the show which was kept busy throughout the weekend flying potential purchasers.

The Cavalon On Tour!

Rotorsport have a german-registered Cavalon flying in the UK in May. There are planned visits to Old Sarum on Wednesday 16th May and Rufforth on Thursday 17th May. Please contact Steve Boxall (Salisbury) or Phil Harwood (%SHORTNAME-YORK%) if you are interested in seeing the Cavalon at these airfields.

Demo flights may be available for anyone considering placing an order for a Cavalon this year.

Aero Friedrichshafen

The Gyrocopter Experience attended the Aero Friedrichshafen event for the first time this year. This is the largest European Aviation Trade Show, where manufacturers launch new products and ideas.

There was lots to see ? including all of those European gyros which we never get to play with in the UK! As well as Auto-Gyro, Magni and Layzell Gyroplanes; Arrow-copter, Cloud Dancer, Trixi Aviation and Xenon all had impressive looking machines.

The Gyrocopter Experience Perth

The Gyrocopter Experience Perth, Scotland is run by Instructor Kevin Whitehead, and is our newest Gyrocopter Experience location. Since opening its doors in January and becoming the first (and only!) gyro school in Scotland, Kevin has flown with students from all over the region.

Gyro students at Perth become members of the Scottish Aero Club, and at the recent club annual dinner and awards ceremony Kevin was delighted to confer the ?Best Gyroplane Student? award to Ewen Mackenzie, who achieved his PPL(G) at the ripe old age of 17! Congratulations to Ewen for his remarkable achievement.
