Hi

New Gyrocopter Experience location at Popham Airfield near Basingstoke

We are delighted to announce that The Gyrocopter Experience is opening a new location at Popham Airfield near Basingstoke in Hampshire.

Senior Instructor and Examiner Steve Boxall will be moving his school from Old Sarum to Popham in August 2014. ?Old Sarum has been a fantastic place to work for the last few years? said Steve ?but experience has shown that most of the students who have trained with us come from the London area, so it makes good sense to move closer to them."

Popham is an iconic airfield dedicated to sport aviation, and has fantastic transport links, being located right next to the A303 / M3 and close to the A34 putting it within easy reach of London, the South and the Midlands.

Steve will have enclosed and open-cockpit gyros available for training, solo flight and experience flights. For more information visit www.GyrocopterExperience.com/basingstoke or contact Steve via Steve.Boxall@GyrocopterExperience.com tel 0790 505 9789. The online calendar is open now for bookings.

Salisbury Vouchers -If you have an experience flight voucher for a flight from our Salisbury location , flights will be available from Old Sarum until the end of July. From August onwards you will be able to take your flight from Popham (Basingstoke).

The Gyrocopter Extravaganza 12th July 2014

On Saturday 12th July 2014 we will be holding a Gyrocopter Extravaganza Event at Rufforth Airfield York and everyone is invited. The Gyrocopter Showroom, Classrooms, Simulator Bay , Gift Shop, Cinema, Museum and Instructor Academy will be open and we will be happy to show you around.

During the day we hope to offer the following:

Drive-in or Fly-in. If you are flying in and you have not flown into Rufforth Airfield, please read these notes and avoid the Glider site at the west end of the Airfield

G-GRYN stars in a new feature film to be released in 2015

Our Gyrocopter G-GRYN was recently filmed as part of a shoot for the feature film "Long Time Coming" due to be released in 2015. The photo shows the gyro all rigged up for the filming of the close up shots where the actor Gustav is seen "flying". The specially built trailer drove up and down the runway with smoke emulating whisps of cloud allowing him to shoot out of the window at the baddies below :-).

Phil Harwood then piloted the aircraft around the airfield where special permission had been obtained from the CAA to allow him to chase cars at relatively low level. What fun!

The two day shoot at the airfield will probably contribute about 2 minutes of screen time, it was astounding the amount of time and people it takes to create a full length feature film but we are delighted - G-GRYN could become the next Little Nellie!

Must Fly!
