Hi

Welcome to the June 2013 Gyrocopter Experience Newsletter with gyroplane news, updates and information from the UK and around the world.

Original Bensen added to Gyrocopter Museum

The Gyrocopter Museum at York is now the proud owner of an original Bensen Gyrocopter. Built in 1962 this gyrocopter with wooden blades and a VW engine now has pride of place in its new home. Previously it had been on display in the Aviation museum at East Fortune in Scotland.

`We are absolutely delighted with this acquisition`, says Phil Harwood. `G-ARTJ has an overhead stick directly connected to the rotorhead. The simplicity of design makes it really clear that you are 'flying a disc' when flying a Gyrocopter. It is superb for understanding how a Gyrocopter works.`

The Gyrocopter Museum is open Monday to Saturday March - October. It's free entry, come and look around.

Fly-in and Open Day at Rufforth Airfield Saturday 22nd June

The York Flying Club are hosting their first fly-in event for over 6 years on Saturday 22nd June. Aircraft of all types are expected to attend for a day of fun.

The Gyrocopter Experience will be officially opening their new purpose built Gyrocopter Cinema and Seminar Room. There will of course also be a chance to look around the museum and have a `fly` on the simulator.

There will be a special appearance of the Cavalon, the new flagship Gyrocopter from Rotorsport in the UK. Superb!

Why not make a weekend of it (check the website www.yorkflyingclub.co.uk for PPR details). There is also a fly-in at Kirkbride Airfield in Cumbria the following day and a gaggle of Gyrocopters will be flying from Rufforth to Kirkbride on Saturday afternoon.

The Bath and West Show

The Gyrocopter Experience attended the Bath and West Show last week to introduce Gyrocopters to tens of thousands of people in the South over a period of four days.

Steve Boxall, our instructor at Salisbury was in his element explaining how these great machines work.

Steve says `It was delightful to see so many people's excitement when they saw the Magni M24 Orion which was on display. Many were unaware that Gyrocopters had come on such a long way from the days of `Little Nellie` and a number of people have already booked their initial flights.`

The Gyrocopter Experience will be attending The Great Yorkshire Show from the 9th to 11th July. Come and see us there!

First hire customer at Devon

The Gyrocopter Experience in Devon have had their first customer hire one of their gyros. He commented `It's great to now be able to hire a Gyro, so I don't have to spend ?50K+ on buying one.`
