Hi

Welcome to the November 2013 Gyrocopter Experience Newsletter with gyroplane news, updates and information from the UK and around the world.

Our Biggest Event: The Flying Show NEC 2013

The Gyrocopter Experience looks set to have the largest floor area of any stand at this years The Flying Show to be held in the NEC Birmingham on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December 2013

With a massive 144m2 we are taking all the things that make us so much more than a network of Gyrocopter flying schools. We are taking The Gyro Cinema, The Gyro Museum, The Gyro Lounge, The Gyro Shop, The Gyro Simulator and most importantly The Gyro Classroom.

This year, in our classroom we will be holding a series of free training courses on different aspects of flying a Gyrocopter. If you want to learn more about these great aircraft, come on down! Join our free training courses or just come and chat to any of our instructors or enthusiastic team.

Instructor's meet up in the Algarve

The Gyrocopter Experience Algarve hosted this year's Gyrocopter Experience instructors conference.

Kevin Robinson, who organised the event said. "Its really important as instructors operating independent schools that we get together and share best practice."

"This year we took the opportunity to fly together and standardise our teaching methods. Everything we do is about improving training methods and improving flight safety. The prospect of getting five instructors together, with a combined experience of 9000 flying hours, was too good an opportunity to miss and we made great progress in terms of best practise and evaluation of the current syllabus."

The warm sunny Algarve weather contributed to a great week. Our other Kevin (Whitehead) plans to host the 2014 gathering in Perth, Scotland.

Complete AutoGyro Suite at Devon

Nick Wright is about to get a hat trick. Three different models of AutoGyro/Rotorsport Gyrocopter, all available to fly and learn from a single school. Nick, at The Gyrocopter Experience in Devon is the only instructor in the UK that will have this offering.

"It's really super to have the full range of aircraft. We add the enclosed Calidus to our range of Gyrocopters available to complement the enclosed Cavalon and the open cockpit MT03."

"The Calidus that will be use in our school will be on display at The Flying Show later this month and then delivered down to Devon. Can't wait!"

26th September. York's busiest day

The 26th September 2013 was The Gyrocopter Experience - York's busiest training day ever....and a number of "firsts" all took place at the same time.

Walt Roach had his first solo flight, Robin Wright completed his first solo qualifying cross country exercise and Mike Reece conducted his first training flight as a qualified flying instructor.

As well as all this, Gerard McAleer was on his first week of instruction with his two full time students Tony Wallace and Malachy Quin from Northern Ireland. Angus Smith completed his second qualifying cross country and Andy Jones completed his final week of a 4-week secondment as an instructor at The Gyrocopter Experience - York.

"What a tremendous feeling it was to have such a buzz about the place. Four instructors and seven students all operating in unison - this is what this business is all about, we were really proud to hear everyone on the radio and watching them fly safely around the circuit. We still have our huge Gyrocopter Grin having completed six years as a flying school!

Gyro tours in Costa Rica 2014

This is why we do it!

If you have a Gyroplane licence and consider yourself an experienced and competent pilot then do we have the holiday for you.....Hire a Gyroplane in Costa Rica and spend a week on a flying tour of the island.

Our friends Frank, Guido and Jan operate self-fly guided tours 'in paradise'. Based from the Flying Crocodile Hotel there are a number of 1-3 day tours of the island including superb views of volcanoes, jungles and beaches.

The tours are completed in groups of between five and nine people and offer the opportunity for some advanced instruction to hone your flying skills.

Go for it! Details at www.flying-crocodile.com. Mention our name if you contact them, we promise they will look after you and please tell us all about it afterwards.

Must Fly!
